Earlier this month a Fortune report indicated that X was working on a new television app for Amazon and Samsung smart TVs and now we’re getting our first look at what that app might look like.Saturday app researcher Nima Owji posted a video of what he claims is the X app for televisions, including its log-in screen, home tab, search function, and profile pages.
This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.
The video shows that the app looks pretty much like what we anticipated. The home screen has a “For you” section with personalized suggestions as well as a section for short videos that can be watched when you just want to fill a short period of time.Owji also notes that it’s a web app, so it theoretically should work on any smart television.X is reportedly launching the service with the goal of allowing users to watch “long videos on a bigger screen.”

In January, a blog post from the X Business team declared the social network a “video-first platform.” In that same post, the site claimed that 8 out of every 10 user sessions on the site involved watching videos and that in December 2023 users watched 130 years’ worth of videos that clocked in at 30 minutes or longer. In early March, citing people familiar with the matter, Fortune reported that X had plans to launch the television app soon.
