HMD’s Skyline phone wants to help you curb your social media addiction and e-waste. Its highlight feature is a Detox Mode that makes your social media apps temporarily disappear from your device. Meanwhile, HMD’s commitment to repairability means you can replace several parts by yourself, including the screen and battery. The Skyline uses the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, which should make it competitive with other midrange Android phones. Its 6.55-inch screen has a resolution of 2,400 by 1,080 pixels, a 144Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1,000 nits. A Gorilla Glass 3 cover protects the front, but you don’t need to worry about damage: You can repair the screen, the back, and the USB-C charging port with kits available through HMD’s partnership with iFixit.

You also have the ability to swap out the 4,600mAh battery by yourself. As for other charging specs, the Skyline supports 33W fast wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and 5W reverse charging. Rounding out the IP54-rated phone’s hardware is a customizable shortcut button and a side fingerprint sensor. In terms of imaging, you get a 108MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 13MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP telephoto camera. There’s a 50MP selfie camera on the front that can focus on and track your eyes, too. The Skyline is compatible with the most common 5G bands in the US and has C-band coverage, but it doesn’t support the faster mmWave bands. It works with both Nano SIMs and eSIMs.Aside from the Detox Mode on the software front, the phone uses HMD’s Balance Interface on top of Android 14. The company claims this overlay will help you find various features easier and make alarms and sounds from the phone less strident.
