New Netflix original movies are still few and far between this summer. There are a handful of foreign-language Netflix originals, but the quality of those films is dubious at best. Even the best new Netflix original, The Union, isn’t a great movie by Hollywood action film standards. But it’s light-years ahead of most Netflix action flicks.
Netflix has also added Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie as an original movie even though it was made by Nickelodeon Studios and Paramount. But that didn’t stop Netflix from claiming Beverly Hills Cop: Axel FT as one of its own despite being produced by Paramount as well. It’s all semantics as long as they’re exclusive on Netflix.
