Apple has announced that its annual Fall iPhone event will occur on Monday, September 9th at 10:00 am.
Dubbed “It’s Glowtime,” the event promises to launch four new models of the iPhone 16, two new Apple Watches, maybe fourth-generation noise-cancelling AirPods, and updates to iOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and other operating systems for the Apple ecosystem.
It is believed that Apple will update all four models of the iPhone with a new 3 nanometer A18 chip and integration of Apple Intelligence, the company’s foray into providing artificial intelligence features into the design.

Outside of what looks to be a modest upgrade for the basic iPhone models, Apple is focusing chiefly on the iPhone Pro and Pro Max models for most of the design improvements.

The new iPhone camera lens array has been repositioned to have a pill-shaped bump and over/under lenses for wide and ultra-wide lenses in the basic 16s, while the pro-level iPhone 16 keeps the same basic camera layout.
The redesign is believed to make it easier to create spatial video which can be viewed on Apple’s Vision Pro Headset.
The iPhone 16 Pro will get the innovative tetra-prism camera lens that premiered in last year’s iPhone 15 Pro Max, bringing a 5x optical zoom and making both pro models a bit closer in overall specs.
Moreover, the iPhone Pro models will be slightly larger in display size, going from 6.1-6.7 inches respectively, up to 6.3 and 6.9 inches for the Pro and Pro Max. The standard iPhones will keep the current 6.1-inch display.
All four iPhone models will also have the “action button,” which premiered on the iPhone 15 Pro and can be programmed for favorite features.

The iPhone 16 line will also get a new photo-centric Capture button, triggering the camera shutter old-school style. The capture button will also respond haptically with various pressures to lock the focus before pressing down to capture the image.
The iPhone 16 is also rumored to double the available RAM, starting at 16 GB, and will have a redesigned thermal protection system to guard against overheating.
Moreover, the Pro Models may also have upgraded 5G Qualcomm modem chips with mmWave 5G transceiver support and sub-6GHz, which will use up to 20 percent less power throughout the day.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple believes that up to 70% of overall iPhone 16 sales will come from the pro level, meaning that more higher-end mobile handsets will be available after the product launch, as opposed to standard iPhone 16 models.
Apple Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that the iPhone 16 lineup will also be available in black, green, pink, blue, and white, replacing yellow this time around, with no purple. Other rumors suggest there could be up to seven different colors available. But really, who cares since everyone will put a case on it anyway?
The Apple It’s Glowtime event will occur at the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple HQ on the One Apple Park Campus starting at 10 am on Monday, September 9, 2024.
