Blackmagic’s DaVinci 19 Emerges Out of Beta with Over 100 Upgraded Tools and Features

Blackmagic has released DaVinci Resolve 19 after a lengthy BETA test to improve its flagship color grading and video editing studio suite.
The new release includes over 100 updated tools and features, spanning across its editing, color grading, video effects, and audio sections. This update is one of the most comprehensive in the app’s history.
One of the main feature updates is the new multi-source video cut pane option, allowing teams to work on the same footage while keeping the original camera files time-synced to protect the overall workflow.

This prevents users from accidentally undoing changes made by another team member and allows them to work independently. Users can also easily search and find clips within the multi-source environment and track render cache activity.

The Neural Engine Tool in DaVinci Resolve receives several updates, including the AI-driven IntelliTrack Point Tracker for tracking and stabilizing motion video footage. This feature also extends to Fairlight, giving editors control over audio panning for greater impact. Additionally, AI tools provide spatial denoising and noise reduction through the Engine’s UltraNR feature.
The AI features have been streamlined to be up to 2 times faster on supported Intel-based Windows Systems, with improved performance of up to 4 times when using nVidia RTX graphics GPUs and up to 3.5 times faster on supported AMD-based systems. The speed boost also applies when using DaVinci Speed Warp.
In the Color Pane, new Color Slice Six Vector color grading palettes have been introduced for more accurate color grading, along with support for AMF 2.0 and smart filters for HDR-graded clips. Blackmagic has also added support for Dolby Vision tunneling through HDMI and a tone-mapped view for previewing footage in Dual SDI mode.
Fusion now supports Open Color IO 2.3, color management tools when viewing CGI footage, and Stereoscopic 3D clips within Fusion compositions. It also receives a boost in the rendering of 3D textures and up to 3x greater performance when using Magic Mask to mask moving subjects.
Resolve FX introduces a Film Look creator for applying digital film emulsions to a scene, and improved Defocus Background tools for better-blurred foreground, with support for radial and zoom-based blurs.
