CrowdStrike is offering new guidance on dealing with the global IT outage caused by the company’s faulty update on Friday.The company’s Remediation and Guidance Hub explains what caused the outage and which systems are impacted. It includes links to BitLocker key recovery processes and to various third-party vendor pages about dealing with the outage if you or your company is still dealing with the issue and needs guidance on how to fix it.The hub also includes a statement from the company’s CEO, George Kurtz, apologizing for the worldwide nightmare. “All of CrowdStrike understands the gravity and impact of the situation. We quickly identified the issue and deployed a fix, allowing us to focus diligently on restoring customer systems as our highest priority,” the statement reads. “We are working closely with impacted customers and partners to ensure that all systems are restored so you can deliver the services your customers rely on.”Kurtz also acknowledged that bad actors have started to try to exploit the issue.“I encourage everyone to remain vigilant and ensure that you’re engaging with official CrowdStrike representatives,” he said. “Our blog and technical support will continue to be the official channels for the latest updates.”

If you are still having issues, Microsoft released a tool yesterday that will automatically delete the channel file that caused machines to blue screen and get them back to running normally.
