Learn more Table of Contents Table of Contents SPONSORED PIECE Believe it or not, the kings of the enthusiast keyboard world, Ducky, have up until now never released a wireless-keyboard, but the Ducky Zero 6108 ends this trend. We were lucky enough to get our hands on this hottest of boards to take a closer look at all of its features. Read below for all the details. Specifications Form-factor: 100% Key-switches: Cherry MX2A Speed Silver/ Blue / Brown / Red (hotswappable) Dimensions: 435 x 135 x 40mm Connection: 2.4GHz WiFi / Bluetooth / USB Type-C to Type A cable Weight: 1200g Show more Tri-Mode Connectivity The main selling point of this particular Ducky board: the wireless connection, comes in the form of either Bluetooth or 2.4GHz WiFi. The latter of these connections requires you to plug in the alternative Escape key keycap included in the box, which has a socket to hold the WiFi dongle. As detailed in the downloadable manual, you can switch between these modes using keyboard shortcuts: Fn+F5 for wireless and Fn+F1 to F4 for Bluetooth. Alternatively, you can always use the wired connection via the included USB-C cable, which also serves as the charging cable for the device. The 2500mAh rechargeable battery promises to provide the user with a lengthy battery life, even with the RGB turned up to the max. New Cherry MX2A switches The Ducky Zero 6108 comes equipped with the very latest Cherry MX2A switch options. An update to the much loved Cherry MX series of mechanical switches, the latest variants have improved factory lubrication for a smoother feel, a shorter bounce time, plus more advanced internal mechanisms that make the keys a bit quieter and more stable. Specifically, this includes improved bottom housing, ‘Gold Crosspoint’ tech, a ‘unique spring-centring stem’, and socket dome lubrication. The Cherry MX2A switches are rated for over 100 million clicks before you need to replace them, which should cover anyone’s realistic level of use. Depending on which retailer you pick up your Zero 6108 from, you can have yours equipped with Cherry MX2A Silver (with a short-throw linear action), Red (with a standard linear action), Brown (tactile but no click), or Blue (tactile and audibly clicky) switch options, the first two being more well suited to gaming, and the latter two for mixed-use/typing. The Browns we had in our test board provided a great typing and solid gaming experience. The board is also hotswappable for other 5-pin PCB compatible switches, so there are a wide range of other options you could equip it with if you buy them separately. Sculpted Double-shot keycaps As you’d expect from a high-quality Ducky board, you get top-notch quality keycaps, specifically PBT double shot keycaps rather than those made from the cheaper single shot and/or ABT material. These caps have better grease resistance and durability, meaning they should last a lot longer without visible wear and tear. In terms of the shape, the keys have the classic Cherry profile with the sculpted subtle ‘scoop’ to match the contours of your fingertips, helping to improve your ergonomic typing experience. You can order the board with the the full assortment of keys for your region/language, depending on the retailer you buy it from. General design The overall aesthetic of the Zero 6108 is as you’d expect from a Ducky product: simple, clean, elegant, and with a nod towards classic keyboard design. There are two color options: Classic Black or Pure White. As the eagle-eyed may have observed, we got our mits on the Pure White option, which has its keycaps, top plate, and base section all in a uniform color, although the replacement Esc key with the slot for the WiFi dongle came in black.  As is Ducky tradition, you get the option for a Chinese zodiac-themed spacebar, which in 2024 happens to be the Dragon. Alternatively, you can stick to the plain spacebar should you wish – both options come in the box. The design is all-plastic but of a high-quality, durable build. You get the standard three-stage feet to stand up the keyboard at a height/angle that’s suitable for you. The keyboard is full-size, with all the numpad and function keys. Instead of a programmable dial/knob in the top-right like you might see on some boards, there are dedicated volume up/down/mute keys, which helps maintain the overall clean aesthetic of the board. It’s obviously bigger than a TKL-sized board, but the collapsed style means it’s more compact than most full-size models on the market. Our particular model came with a UK ISO layout. The inclusion of N-key rollover (NKRO) means that you can simultaneously press multiple keys and have their clicks register, so no keystrokes will be missed even during the most hectic typing/gaming. The base of the board has a noise-dampening layer of padding added to the PCB to muffle keypresses, making this a nice an quiet board, though still with a thick that’s audible enough to be satisfying. This ‘Q-bounce pad’ also give a nice bit of springback to each keypress. What do you get in the box? Besides the keyboard itself you get all the bits an pieces included that you can see in the image above. Specifically, you get the USB-C cable, secondary space bar keycap, dual-function keycap/switch removal tool (which is of a nice quality), and the aforementioned replacement Esc key with plug-in WiFi dongle. No proper manual is included, but as discussed you can access this digitally here. Where can you buy the Ducky Zero 6108? Although we expect to see the board come out across additional retailers as time goes by, currently the best place to buy it from is Overclockers UK, which has a full range of Ducky switches, keycaps, miscellaneous accessories, and other keyboards for you to check out as well.
