Japanese billionaire Lusaka Mawzawa has said he will no longer fly to space on Space X’s rocket Starship due to the mission’s numerous delays.Maezawa was originally scheduled to go on the voyage in 2023; however “launch within 2023 became unfeasible, and without clear schedule certainty in the near-term, it is with a heavy heart that Maezawa made the unavoidable decision to cancel the project,” his project dearMoon said in a statement.dearMoon was initially announced in 2018 and was meant to be “the world’s first civilian circumlunar voyage aboard SpaceX’s space vehicle, Starship.” Maezwa planned to bring six to eight artists along with him on the historic flight including American DJ Steve Aoki, K-Pop star T.O.P., and Indian actor Dev Joshi.Maezawa said he made the decision to cancel the project because he no longer wanted the crew members to wait for the project to happen given its numerous delays.

The mission wouldn’t have been Maezawa’s first trip to space. In 2021 he traveled to the International Space Station for 12 days, a trip he made aboard a Russian Soyuz rocket.
