KVD Beauty Good Apple Lightweight Full-Coverage Concealer Review & Swatches

KVD Beauty Good Apple Lightweight Full-Coverage Concealer (Now on sale for $15) is a new, pigmented “stretch” concealer that acts provides full coverage to conceal dark circles and imperfections. The formula was inspired by the KVD Good Apple Skin-Perfecting Hydrating Foundation Balm that launched last year. I’m throwing it out there and saying Good Apple Skin-Perfecting Hydrating Foundation Balm was a disaster of a product. It was sold and re-sold to the masses on Tiktok as the best and most pigmented foundation balm on the planet. Yes, I’m being sarcastic because it irks me that people actually believed the raving reviews. I was skeptical as balm foundations are anything but forgivable but Tiktokers were urging people but buy it saying how lightweight and pigmented it was. Someone was brave enough to step up and say, “No, it’s really not as great as everyone is saying”.
Good Apple Lightweight Full-Coverage Concealer is on sale at sephora.com today for $15. I’m reposting this review if you missed it as this deal is a good one!
The sad thing is when Good Apple Lightweight Full-Coverage Concealer I had an instant eye-roll moment because the foundation hype literally ruined the idea of a concealer in this range. But, away I went, and I purchased it.

Initially, when I purchased this I was convinced it was simply Lock-It Concealer Crème. It’s not far off believing they just repackaged it since Kat Von D had rebranded as KVD Beauty and the packaging was getting a revamp to reflect this. And the packaging is pretty nifty by the way. This comes in what appears to be a dropper-like bottle but in reality, it does in fact have an applicator. And the applicator is pretty brilliant. It has a slanted tip that’s supposed to resemble your finger’s shape. I really like this applicator as it smooths on the concealer quite evenly and flawlessly. Props to them for the awesome packaging. Price-wise KVD Beauty Good Apple Lightweight Full-Coverage Concealer is $1 more than the original formula at $28 BUT it also holds more at 0.33 oz versus 0.22 oz.
But the main issue here is performance, coverage, and in particular ingredients which I’ve compared below. There are some differences in the formula here and some similarities. Mainly the new formula contains alcohol which sucks as alcohol can be pretty drying particularly under the delicate skin of your eyes! I’ve been using it for a bit now and can’t say I’ve experienced any dryness. If anything the addition of alcohol made this formula a bit creamier and less thick than the original. I always felt like the original formula was super creamy yet also, had an excellent consistency. This is creamy yet more hydration and easier to blend. Also, if possible, they actually seemed to have packed in even more pigment here. This coverage is ridiculous. It really is super pigmented. I’m going to say it but it’s actually more pigmented than Tarte Shape Tape if you can believe it.

KVD Beauty Good Apple Lightweight Full-Coverage Concealer Shade 119

I’ve very used to pigmented concealer and have very little issue applying them. I prep well and make sure I’m working on a well-hydrated area which makes for excellent application. So, I had no problems with the application here. It applied very smoothly, blended very easily, and left behind very smooth, even coverage under my dry, finely lined eyes. It covered up my puffiness, brightened up my eye area, and had a clean, natural finish. I had no creasing throughout the day and the concealer wore long and strong. It has a very natural-looking finish that really brightened up my tired eyes.
The one fault I had with the product was the shade. I got the shade 119 which is for light-medium skin with warm peach undertones. Sounded perfect for me. I’ve discovered very late in my life that a peachy undertone (which proves difficult to find) in my concealer is exactly what I need. However, 119 was too light. I’m going to see if I can try a better shade match. It’s really not that uncommon for KVD’s concealers to be misleading in my experience if you’re purchasing online. They tend to run very light. But aside from this minor issue the rest of the experience was great with this concealer.
If you’re a fan of Tarte Shape Tape Concealer or even the old Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Creme I think you’ll love KVD Beauty Good Apple Lightweight Full-Coverage Concealer.

KVD Beauty Good Apple Lightweight Full-Coverage Concealer is a new, lightweight yet pigmented concealer that launched in 32 shades. I found this formula incredibly creamy and quite hydrating for something that contained alcohol. Yes, sadly, it does contain alcohol. It’s thick but spreads easily and blends out very smoothly. The pigment is absolutely outrageous. If you have imperfections, dark circles, puffiness, this concealer will act to conceal them all. It is a formula you have to be willing to work with as proper prepping is needed to ensure the best application but once on it provides seamless, natural coverage that brightens and conceals problem issues.
