We’re not expecting Macs at next week’s iPhone-focused “Glowtime” event, but that doesn’t mean we’ll end the year without new Apple computers. As MacRumors reports, citing “a reliable source familiar with the matter,” Apple is set to launch M4-powered Macs in November. The site didn’t have too many other details, but earlier rumors point to an M4 makeover for the entire Mac lineup. That includes a 14-inch MacBook Pro with the base M4, as well as 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros with M4 Pro and M4 Max chips. We could also see an M4 iMac and Mac mini. Most of the changes will likely be internal; aside from the M4 chip, there might be 16GB of RAM as standard across the lineup, up from 8GB.The Mac mini, however, may get a bit of a design makeover. Last month, Bloomberg reported that the small PC would get its biggest redesign since 2010, shrinking down to the size of an Apple TV set-top box. It may also have “at least three USB-C ports on the back” and an HDMI port. These M4 Mac rollouts may be staggered and slip into 2025. But there is precedence for Apple holding a second fall event focusing on non-iPhone hardware. Last year, Apple announced the M3-series chips at the “Scary Fast” event in October alongside new MacBook Pros.

The M4 showed up first in the iPad Pro earlier this year. In our review of the tablet, we found that “the M4 is a powerful processor that easily surpasses the M3 and older Apple chips, as well as many other SoCs on the market.”For more, check out our M4 vs. M3 comparison.
