Motorola is updating its Moto Edge flagship phones with a hefty dose of AI. The company announced three new devices—the Edge 50 Ultra, Edge 50 Pro, and Edge 50 Fusion—along with two sets of earphones, the Moto Buds+ and the Moto Buds. All three phones will feature AI-enhanced photo capabilities, including better autofocus and access to on-device AI editing tools. Motorola also claims the Edge phones are the first to come with a Pantone Validated camera and display, which ensure they match Pantone’s official colors and skin tones. Moto Edge 50 Ultra

The Edge 50 Ultra is the top model of the lot and is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 system on a chip. It comes with either 12GB or 16GB of memory and either 512GB or 1TB of storage. It features ultra-wideband support for high-speed 5G network connectivity on T-Mobile and Verizon networks and will be capable of 125W wired and 50W wireless charging. It also has an IP68 rating to protect against dust and water. There’s a 50MP f/1.6 main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 50MP f/2.0 ultra-wide camera with a 122-degree field of view, and a 64MP f/2.4 telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS. The selfie camera takes 50MP snaps at f/1.9. The phone can capture 1080p and 4K video at 30fps and 60fps, along with 4K HDR10+ at 30fps. It can snag slow-motion video in 1080p at 120fps, 240fps, and 960fps.As for color, Motorola says it developed the Pantone Validated camera with Pantone color scientists. “Users can confidently capture and view the world exactly as they see it with Pantone Validated colors and skin tones, making it ideal for content creation,” the company says.

The Edge 50 Ultra makes use of AI with what Motorola calls a Photo Enhancement Engine, which applies settings from multiple shooting modes into one image. Other AI modes include Adaptive Stabilization, which automatically adjusts stabilization levels for the clearest shot; Auto Focus Tracking, for keeping your subject in focus even when it’s moving; Action Shot, which adjusts shutter speed based on lighting conditions; and Long Exposure, for getting creative motion in your shots with just a single tap. Users can also use generative AI to create personalized wallpaper and images with a text prompt. The phone has a 6.67-inch Super HD pOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. It is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus and will arrive in two vegan leather colors—Forrest Gray or Peach Fuzz—and one Nordic Wood option. It will be available in select markets across Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Oceania in the coming weeks starting at €999. Motorola didn’t say if this phone will reach the US, but it says it’s committed to bringing its phones to North America and often rebadges its Edge-branded phones for American buyers.Edge 50 Pro

The Moto Edge 50 Pro has a slightly slower Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor and is limited to a single build with 12GB of memory and 512GB of storage. The phone retains many of the Ultra’s key features including the same 6.67-inch screen, IP68 rating, and 125W wired/50W wireless charging. The AI-based Photo Enhancement Engine carries over from the pricier model, though Adaptive Stabilization, Auto Focus Tracking, Action Shot, and Long Exposure don’t make the cut. The 50 Pro shares its 50MP main camera with the 50 Ultra, but the ultra-wide camera steps down to 13MP at f/2.2 with a 120-degree field of view. The phone has a 10MP telephoto camera at f/2.0 with 3x optical zoom and OIS. The 50MP selfie camera is the same as the one found on the Ultra. Most of the video capture specs are the same, but slow-motion video tops out at 1080p at 120fps.

The Edge 50 Pro doesn’t support ultra-wideband 5G but does offer C-band. The phone comes in two vegan leather options—Black Beauty and Lux Lavender—and the Moonlight Pearl special edition model. It will be available in the coming weeks in European and Latin American markets with a starting price of €699. Edge 50 Fusion

The most affordable version of the Moto Edge 50, called the Fusion, uses the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, and therefore loses many of the AI capabilities found in the more expensive models. It comes with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and you can pick from 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of storage. It, too, has a 6.67-inch pOLED display, though the company doesn’t state how it compares to those of the Ultra and Pro.

There are only two rear cameras on the Fusion, a 50MP main camera at f/1.88 with OIS and the same 13MP f/2.2 shooter found on the Pro with a 120-degree field of view. The selfie camera steps down to a 32MP f/2.45 shooter. The cameras can capture 4K video at 30fps and 1080p video at either 30fps or 60fps. It can record 1080p slow motion at 120fps.
