ProGrade Digital has announced a new storage capacity range for its CFexpress Type A Gold-class memory cards.
These latest cards offer 120GB of storage for storing camera media and join the brand’s existing 240GB and 480GB editions of the same type. Importantly though, they’re a lower-cost option for users who want this type of high-level card.
The 120GB cards are being introduced with the same performance and features as their two larger variants and this of course includes the CFexpress 2.0 standard.
Other key features of these cards are their NVMe host interface, VGP 200 certification and PCI Gen 3 x 1 interconnect.
ProGrade promises maximum read speeds of 900MB/s and maximum write speeds (for short bursts of time) of 800MB/s. In terms of sustained write speeds, they should be able to deliver 450MB/s consistently.
ProGrade Digital is a fully certified Compact Flash Association member and offers VPG 200 certification for these new cards.
This means that as an absolute bottom line guarantee, they’ll at least and without fail deliver 200MB/s sustained write speeds at all times.
VPG 200 isn’t the highest such rating, but 200MB/s is more than fast enough for all currently commercially used video recording capabilities on major name-brand mirrorless cameras.
The new Type A cards also offer protection against sustained-use overheating thanks to their thermal throttling technology and are resistant to X-ray radiation, shocks, and storage failure.
All of these cards also include a 3-year warranty right out of the box.
With the introduction of these new CFexpress Type A cards in the 120GB range, ProGrade Digital extends this lineup to join the existing 240GB and 480GB Gold cards with all the same features (aside from their larger storage size).
However, the 240 and 480GB cards cost $239.99 and $338.99 respectively.
The new cards, with their smaller but still very robust storage space, will be available at a much more affordable $159.99.
