When Sigma announced that they were finally going to make some of their lenses available in Canon RF mount, many photographers rejoiced. The list at the time of the announcement only showed it’s APS-C Contemporary lineup, with the first being the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN in June.
The company is continuing to make good on their promise. The company has announced that the Sigma 10-18mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary lens ($659) is now also available for Canon RF Mount mirrorless cameras.
Sigma 10-18mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary for Canon RF
The Sigma 10-18mm f/2.8 DC DN isn’t a particularly new lens. Of course, it’s not that old, either, having been released in October of last year for Leica L, Sony E and Fuji X mounts. It hasn’t been released on Nikon Z mount yet – something else Sigma is now making – but now Canon RF shooters can get their hands on one.
At release, the Sigma 10-18mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary was the world’s smallest and lightest f/2.8 zoom designed specifically for APS-C sensor mirrorless cameras. It’s designed for both photographers and videographers looking to shoot wide.
For photographers, it’s well suited to shooting landscapes and potentially architectural or event photography when shooting in close quarters. For video, it makes for an ideal vlogging lens, with a full-frame equivalent field of view to that of a 16mm lens at the short end. The lens’s light weight also makes it very suitable for RF mount vloggers.
